Fun at the Kingston Sheepdog Trial

On a gorgeous weekend in August, we spontaneously decided to check out the Sheep-dog trial event
which was located in a park right off the shores of the St. Laurence River.

It was a fabulous day and the event a lot fun-
more than I imagined!

The dogs had to herd the sheep through a series of obstacles (here the gate) and yet still keep them together as a group

A multitude of people turned up lining the huge field
following each movement from the comfort of their lawn chairs

This stuff is serious business here:

The event was going on all weekend, the dogs and their owners competing were from all over Canada and the States and the judges from Ireland

But the were other animal attractions as well;
mainly for the kids, but we enjoyed them as well:
a lynx

Horse drawn carriage rides

A Timber-wolf pup:
one of my personal highlights

Crazy to think that he will be about 80cm tall and 180cm long,
when fully grown.

Just a little puppy, if you ask me :)

Of course our locals birds were represented as well:

I leave you with this image of a young, curious bald eagle.
What a beauty.
