Staying in Italy's Monasteries?!
Hmmmmm, where to begin?
A coworker of mine went off to explore Italy with her daughter while staying in monasteries. She highly recommended it as a unique and cheap way to see the country and that made us very curious.
So, as we prepared for our Latino adventure, we booked a few stays in these once sacred places along with the conventional 'guesthouse-type housing'. We were too scared to spend the entire trip at these ancient buildings as we were not sure how things would turn out...
Well, we wished, we would have only stayed in monasteries!!
We loved it so much that we want to pass this on to anybody interested in seeing Italy in this unique way...
Just like staying in any other hotel, the booking was easily done online, places were very, very affordable, quiet, clean and in the best locations! Whether that means build in the side of a mountain, amongst olive groves or a few feet away from the Vatican; you'll find it all.

Well, we started our adventure by flying into Treviso,
Venice
where we did not want to start 'with the monastery thing right away', but play it save and had a very interesting experience....
From there we took the train west to
Padova,
the City of Dante, Verdi and Galileo, then continued our travels on to the
Cinque Terre.
From there via Pisa to Firence, or
Florence.
We spend a few days in Florence,
then rented a car and explored
then rented a car and explored
Tuscany,
especially the Chianti region
Further on by train to the Amalfi Coast,
Positano,
to be exact. We also explored
Pompeii
before we concluded our stay in
Rome.
