Exploring Lyon, France

Well, we are on our way to Switzerland to Daniel & Steffi's wedding,
but as our destination is quite pricey, we decided to fly into France instead and rent a car...
But first we have a couple of days to explore Lyon:

Hmmmm, food in France..
what can I say?

Lyon is charming and beautiful, situated in the Rhone alps between Paris and Marseille

Who knew my husband has a sweet tooth??

The best way to explore: on foot

Sidewalks tend to shrink at times....

Then there are the TRABOULE the connected passage ways in old Lyon
which allowed craftsmen to transport textiles through the city while remaining sheltered from the weather

They are often credited with helping prevent the occupying Germans from taking complete control of the city in WWII

We explored further and spend an afternoon at Le Parc de la Tête d’or
290 acres in the heart of the city:

Strangers enjoying a moment:

Beautiful garden's , greenhouses, a lake and a zoo:

We finished a great day with a traditional french dinner:

Homemade french oinon soup

...and for the sweet finish:
Creme Brulee

tomorrow we are off to Switzerland!
