Hamburg

Before their big day we had a chance to catch up with Toby and Frieda and explore Hamburg.
It was great!
Not to speak of the cuisine...safe to say we need a break from eating meat for a while...

Or shall I be more specific and say pork?

Enjoying some great German sandwiches
Hmmmm, Mettbroetchen!!!

Hamburg is great.
Just the perfect mix of city life, markets, concerts and the outdoors.
And Steve can actually understand their German :)
We could totally see ourselves living here.

We walked around the Alster-lakes
which was a welcomed change from sitting and traveling

Then off to the province of Mecklenburg Vorpommern where Frieda is from.

...making sure they picked the right beer for the wedding:
taste-test

Frieda's parents have a gorgeous garden: that's where the reception will be

Nephew and sister-in-law to be

Breakfast with the fam

Getting ready to have a fun eve with the early guests the night before the wedding

Mingling and meeting

Yes, those are Lederhosen. And no, not all Germans wear them.
Contrary to some North American/ Canadian belief :)

Joshua checking on the bread

The guys brought out a big pot of delectable Goulash-soup

It was so nice to meet everybody before the big day tomorrow
